The Nile's True Source
The Nile's Source is a complicated debate, as the Nile originates from two different rivers, The White Nile ( see page 3) and The Blue Nile ( see page 4). Some people say that it's Lake Victoria, The White Nile's source, because the White Nile is longer then the Blue Nile. Some say it's the Blue Nile because it's closer to the actual Nile. But what is the Nile's true source?
Since The White Nile is longer, we measure The Nile from The White Nile's source. Is it Lake Victoria? Yes, but we don't measure it from there. There are lots of little rivers flowing into Lake Victoria, The Kagera river being the biggest. Any of these could be the Nile's true source. Ripon falls is situated on the northern edge of the lake. The starting point of the Lake may be Ripon Falls, but we follow the Kagera River up. The Kagera's tributary the Ruvubu with it's headwaters in Burundi is thought to be the Nile's true source.
